World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 across the world. Around 54 million Pakistanis out of a population of 180 million do not have access to safe drinking water. They drink water from lakes or the rainwater stored in ponds. Water unfit for consumption affects the health of the people.
It is advised that instead of only celebrating the day, the provincial governments should think about a way to tackle the situation. The shortage of water is also one of the major problems in the country. The governments have to make sure that each citizen has access to safe drinking water and the sufficient supply of water. Filter plants should be set up to ensure the fitness of water.
