LAHORE/SAHIWAL: Two prisoners convicted for murder were executed in jails across Punjab early Saturday morning, Express News reported.
Irshad was handed death sentence for murdering two people in 1991. He was executed in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
Meanwhile, in Sahiwal Central Jail, Mohammad Wazir was also hanged for murder.
After a six-year moratorium on the death penalty was lifted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in December 2014, many convicts on death row have been hanged.
PM Nawaz took this step in the wake of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s attack at the Army Public School and College in Peshawar on Tuesday which killed 148 people most of them children.
