This refers to the article, ‘A betrayal of the ‘vision’’ (Dec 31), by Ghazi Salahuddin. The writer has rightly asserted that Pakistan is gradually moving away from the Quaid’s vision. It is slowly, but surely, drifting away from the directions set by our founders. The writer aptly adds that the recent Faizabad dharna proves that the country is moving away from what it was meant to be.
It is true that the way the government was forced to give in to the demands of Tehreek-e-Labbaik protestors was lamentable. He added that the Gallup and Gilani Pakistan survey highlights a shocking fact: seven out of 10 people believe that the demands of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik were justified. These results show that Jinnah’s Pakistan does not exist today. The writer rightly believes that the forces of fanaticism have taken Pakistan hostage. These regressive forces try to determine our behaviour and limit our freedom.
