A full bench of the Sindh High Court issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan and two Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) candidates on a petition of Dr Fehmida Mirza.
Mirza, who is a leader of the PPP and National Assembly speaker, has challenged the acceptance of the nomination papers of PML-F candidates Bibi Yasmeen Shah and Syed Ali Bux Shah from the National Assembly constituencies NA-225 and the provincial assembly constituencies PS-57.
In her petition, she alleged that the respondents had submitted fake graduation degrees to the election commission for the 2002 general elections. She requested that the two should be disqualified from contesting the May 11 general elections.
