This refers to the letter, ‘Solar panels’ (Jul 10), by Mir Taqi Abbas Talpur. The writer suggests that solar panels should be installed in state-run educations institutions in Sindh. This recommendation should be applied to all institutions across the country. It is possible to have its bulk manufacturing in the country. The technical knowhow is available in the country, so the government only needs to allocate funds to set up solar panels in different institutions across the country. If the federal government allocates funds to this venture, it will be able to deal with the energy crisis.
The government must look into the ways to manufacture solar panels at affordable prices. Solar panels manufacturers must be provided soft loans so that this facility can be established in all the four provinces. Similarly, solar tube wells can also be run at cheap rates, providing relief to farmers.
