Jeddah (IINA) – The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen, received on Thursday, The representative of the European Union to the OIC, Ambassador Michele Cervone.
Cervone was at the General Secretariat in continuation of talks between the OIC and the EU on strengthening collaboration on shared interests between the two sides.
Dr. Al-Othaimeen and the EU envoy reviewed the outcome of OIC-EU meeting held in Brussels, and both sides agreed on the need for developing the modalities of moving forward to a concrete action on the agreements reached by both parties.
During the meeting, the OIC chief restated the importance of the EU as an important partner in the OIC’s continued efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and dialogue; as well as countering extremism and terrorism. In this connection, Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces any and all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
