The nomination papers of senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim and his son Makhdoom Jalil-uz-Zaman were challenged in the Election Tribunal on Tuesday.
A rival candidate, Abdul Razak Memon, assailed a returning officer for accepting the nominations of former federal commerce minister Fahim and his son for a National Assembly constituency, NA-218, Mitiari.
He said the two had been booked in a multibillion scam in the National Insurance Company Limited. He alleged that Fahim had concealed details of his foreign properties, bank accounts and the payment of utility bills for 10 properties in Karachi, Dubai and Hyderabad.
A transvestite, Abdul Aziz alias Bindiya Rana, challenged the rejection of her nomination papers for Sindh Assembly seat PS-114, Karachi.
Meanwhile, the Election Tribunal, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, issued a notice to the election commission on election appeals of Raja Arif Sultan Minhas, Rasool Bux Dal, Tauseef Ali Hoti, Mohammad Bux Panhwar and SM Farooq against the rejection of their nominations.
The petitioners had filed nomination papers for NA-251 Karachi, NA-230 and PS-62,63 Tharparker,PS-110 Karachi,PS-75 Dadu and NA-254 Karachi respectively.
