KARACHI: Karachi Whites and Karachi Blues confirmed their semi-finals berths with superb victories in their last round matches of the Inter-Region Under-19 One-day Cricket tournament on Friday.
Karachi Whites overwhelmed AJK by eight wickets, while Karachi Blues defeated Multan by nine wickets. At KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi, Karachi Whites recorded their seventh victory in the nine-team group.
AJK posted 133 all out with Arish Ali Khan destroying the batting side with figures of 5-13.
Karachi Whites chased the target in the 17th over, losing two wickets in the process. Sufyan Khan struck 53 off just 30 balls, striking eight fours and two sixes. Umair Yousuf made unbeaten 48 with six fours. In a Group B outing, here at National Stadium, Multan managed 207-8 with Ali Raza scoring 50 off 75 balls, striking three fours and as many sixes. Ashar Qureshi got 5-42.
Karachi Blues chased the target in the 35th over after losing one wicket with Imran Shah making unbeaten 88 off 93 balls, smashing 11 fours. Haider Ali struck 59 not out off 75 balls with five fours. In a Group A show at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur defeated Lahore Whites by six wickets. Lahore Whites were folded for mere 105 with Naved Malik taking 4-23. Muhammad Junaid got 3-12.
Bahawalpur chased the target in the 22nd over after losing four wickets. Ali Imran hit unbeaten 37. Danish Butt got 3-24.
At National Ground, Islamabad, DM Jamali defeated Hyderabad by nine wickets. Hyderabad perished for only 123 with Mohammad taking 3-21. Mohammad Shahid and Fahad Hussain captured two wickets each. DM Jamali chased the target in the 16th over after losing one wicket. Usama Razzaq hit unbeaten 55 off 43 balls, striking six fours and three sixes.
In a crucial Group A game, at Diamond Ground, Islamabad, Sialkot defeated Islamabad by 73 runs to virtually qualify for the semi-finals.
Sialkot posted 297-7 with Abdullah Shafiq (105) scoring a fine century. He hit 12 fours and one six in his 92-ball knock. Sardar Khan got 3-53, while Musa Khan captured 2-58.
Islamabad were bowled out for 229 despite Mohammad Hammad’s excellent 108 which came off just 85 balls and had eight fours and four towering sixes. Usman Sajjad got 4-48, while Adnan Haider claimed 3-27.
Here at UBL Sports Complex, Lahore Blues crushed Larkana by 137 runs. Lahore Blues posted 319-3 with Zaid Alam (145) and Uzair Nasir (116*) scoring fine hundreds. Larkana were bundled out for 182, in reply.
