In 2015, Karachi witnessed severe heatwave that claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people. This year, Karachi is again in the grip of life-threatening heatwave. Loadshedding and shortage of water are making the situation even worst. Although anyone can suffer a heat stroke, children and senior citizens are more prone to it.
The healthcare department of the province should conduct awareness programmes and recommend people to drink plenty of fluids and avoid sun as much as possible. Although heatwave is unavoidable, the least that the authorities can do is to control loadshedding.
