The main goal of any great state should be the wellbeing of its people. And while ‘wellbeing’ is an all-encompassing term, ‘health’ plays a major role in it. It is unfortunate that Pakistan has failed to make the health of its people a priority.
The per capita health budget of a country indicates the nation’s commitment to the health of its people. The US has a health budget of more than 15 percent, UK 10 percent, India 4.1 percent and Pakistan less than 3 percent. The health department in Pakistan has remained neglected and this needs to change because the majority of people in the country cannot fly overseas to get their surgeries done.
