If the findings of research studies are to be believed, a country should have at least 25 percent forest cover. However, only has four percent of land in Pakistan is covered with forests. Deforestation appears to be on the rise and the situation is deteriorating at a rapid pace. As a result, the environment appears to have been affected. The country has received inadequate rainfall.
Furthermore, forests are also being chopped for firewood because the government has failed to provide gas facilities to the people. The authorities must look into the matter with immediate effect as it could produce to drastic consequences.
