The ruling PPP-led Sindh government is singlehandedly responsible for the decline in the literacy rate in the province. On the one hand, the party has become the facilitator of feudalists. And on the other hand, by promoting nepotism, it has overshadowed the importance of education. We have also seen that those who reveal the educational failure of the provincial government with facts and figures are fired from their jobs.
Although monitoring teams appointed by the Sindh education and literacy department yielded positive results in the early stage, with time their performance also started to decline. Biometric system is not sufficient to ensure the regular attendance of school staff. The responsibility of the authorities doesn’t end with establishing monitoring teams or assigning the responsibility to the neutral institutions to assess the standards of education in the province; it ends with ensuring that desired aims are met with the desired success.
