KARACHI: Pakistan’s Danish Atlas Khan was the only unseeded player to book a place in the last-four at the Martyr Fahad al Ahmed Squash Tournament after defeating compatriot Farhan Zaman 3-2 in their match in Hawalli, Kuwait yesterday.

Both Pakistan players are positioned joint-87th at the Professional Squash Association (PSA) rankings and their tense quarter-final suggested their equal standing.

Farhan won the opening game before Danish hit back to claim the following two. However, Farhan balanced the equation to take the match into a deciding fifth game. Danish won the final game emphatically though, to book a place in the semi-final with scores of 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 5-11 and 11-3. He will now face Egypt’s Andrew Wagih Shoukry, who defeated Pakistan’s Khawaja Adil Maqbool 11-9, 11-8 and 12-10 in another quarter-final.

The other semi-final will be played between home favourite and top-seed Abdullah al Muzayen and Egypt’s Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry.

Abdullah got the better of countryman Ammar Altamini 3-1, while Ga Sabry won 3-0 against Kuwait’s Bader al Hussaini.
