Islamabad, January 09, 2018 (PPI-OT):In the first half of current financial year, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,954 new companies, raising the total number of companies to 83,879. As compared to the corresponding month of last financial year, it represents a growth of 44 percent. The massive increase in number of new companies is the result of the SECP’s various reform measures, i.e. simplification of incorporation procedure, reduction in fee, assistance in incorporation by facilitation wings at CROs etc.

Around 82 percent of companies were registered as private limited companies, while around 16 percent were registered as single-member companies. Two percent of the companies were registered as public unlisted, non-profit associations, trade organizations and foreign companies.

The trading sector took the lead with the incorporation of 783 companies, services with 729, construction with 625, information technology with 599, tourism with 274, food and beverages with 164, engineering with 155, education with 148, corporate agricultural farming with 126, real estate development with 106, transport with 100, pharmaceutical with 86, textile with 77, communication with 76, fuel and energy with 75, auto and allied and healthcare with 71 each, cable and electric goods with 58, broadcasting and telecasting with 57, chemical with 55, power generation with 47, paper and board with 46, mining and quarrying with 45, steel and allied with 38, cement with 9 and 334 companies were registered in other sectors. Moreover, 35 foreign companies were also registered by the CROs in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Foreign investment has been reported in 329 new companies. These companies have foreign investors from Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, South Korea, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, the UK, Ukraine and the US.

During the month, the highest numbers of companies, i.e. 1,714 were registered at Islamabad CRO, followed by 1,442 and 987 registered at Lahore and Karachi CROs respectively. The CROs in Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta, Gilgit-Baltistan and Sukkur registered 311, 228, 105, 64, 79 and 24 companies respectively.

National Accountability Bureau’s campaign on “SAY NO TO CORRUPTION” remained successful

Islamabad, January 09, 2018 (PPI-OT):Honourable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal has said that NAB’s Awareness and Prevention campaign on” SAY NO TO CORRUPTION” remained very successful in 2017 which will continue in 2018 in order to aware people about the ill effects of corruption beside Zero Tolerance Policy of NAB against Corruption. The Chairman NAB said that NAB is mandated to carry out Awareness and Prevention functions against corruption in pursuance of Section 33C of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO). Under NAB’s Awareness and Prevention effective campaign across the country, NAB has been engaging different Governmental, Non-Governmental Organizations, media, Civil Society and other segments of society in order to aware people about the ill effects of corruption. He said as per the positive feedback received from various segments of society, NAB’s Awareness campaign on “SAY NO TO CORRUPTION” had been effectively highlighted in print, electronic and social media throughout the country which has appreciated by all segments of society. Terrorism, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment are the global challenges: Sardar Ayaz Sadiq

Islamabad, January 09, 2018 (PPI-OT):Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that terrorism, extremism, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment are the global challenges and these can be overcome through in exchange of knowledge, expertise and experiences. According to a message received from Victoria, Republic of Seychelles, he expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth Countries (CSPOC). The Conference was inaugurated by the President of Seychelles Mr. Danny Faire. Speakers and Presiding Officers of 44 Commonwealth Countries were attended the conference. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq already unanimously elected as the Representative from Asia to the 54 Member Commonwealth’s Standing Committee for a two-year term till 2018. His election was conducted at the 23rd Conference of the Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth Countries (CSPOC) held in the Malaysian city of Kota Kinabalu. China-ASEAN Exposition Host City Nanning Opens Metro Line 2

NANNING, China, Jan. 5, 2018 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– On December 28, 2017, the host to the China-ASEAN Exposition, Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, commenced operation of its Metro Line 2. As the new route shares an interchange with Metro Line 1 that opened in 2016, the opening of Line 2 indicates that the Nanning Metro has now formed a cross-shaped network and that the city is ushering a new era of commuting convenience. Nanning is the capital of the southwestern Chinese autonomous region of Guangxi, as well as the center of Guangxi politics, economy, culture and transportation. The opening and operation of Line 1 and Line 2 of the Nanning Metro has launched Guangxi into the limelight as the first minority ethnic group autonomous region with a subway system. It has been known that after the opening of Line 2, the Nanning Metro now operates 53.1 km of routes and 43 stations. The transfer between Line 1 and Line 2 not only makes commuting much easier for citizens and mitigates above-ground traffic congestion, but also instills more vitality and hope into the city. Pakistan Navy Flotilla visits Muscat; Holds Professional interactions, share experiences with Royal Navy of Oman

Islamabad, January 04, 2018 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Navy Flotilla comprising Submarine HURMAT along with sail ship PNS RAHNAWARD and support ship PNS RASADGAR visited Muscat for good will cum training visit. Commander Submarines, Commodore Altaf Hussain commanded the flotilla as Mission Commander. On arrival at port Sultan Qaboos, the ships were given a warm welcome by Royal Navy of Oman (RNO). During the visit, Mission Commander and Commanding Officers of PN ships and submarine held important meetings with various RNO officials. A large number of RNO personnel, Pakistani expatriates in Oman, military/ naval attaches and officers from Sultan Armed Forces visited PN units. The visit was aimed at improving interoperability and strengthening of bilateral ties between the two navies and creating opportunities for learning from each other’s experiences. The visit afforded crews of visiting ships to hold professional interactions with the personnel of Royal Navy of Oman. On completion of port visit, while leaving Port Sultan Qaboos, PN sail ship RAHNAWARD sailed together with RNO sail ship SHABAB OMAN-II. Impressive fire power display by Pakistan Navy in North Arabian Sea

Karachi, January 03, 2018 (PPI-OT):In an impressive fire power display, Live Weapon Firing was conducted by Pakistan Navy’s newly commissioned Fast Attack Craft (Missile), PNS HIMMAT in the North Arabian Sea. PNS HIMMAT fired indigenously developed Harbah Naval Cruise Missile, which is a Surface to Surface anti-ship missile with Land Attack capability. The missile accurately hit its target signifying the impressive capabilities of Harbah Naval Weapon System. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the firing on board Pakistan Navy Ship ALAMGIR. The successful live weapon firing has once again demonstrated the credible fire power of Pakistan Navy and the impeccable level of indigenization in high tech weaponry achieved by Pakistan’s defence industry. This is a clear manifestation of Government’s resolve to achieve self-reliance in this field. On this occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff expressed his utmost satisfaction on the operational readiness of Pakistan Navy Fleet units and commended the efforts of all those involved in achieving this significant milestone successfully. Only economically strong Pakistan can handle all sorts of pressure: LCCI

Lahore, January 02, 2018 (PPI-OT):The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said that only economically strong Pakistan can handle all sorts of international pressures therefore “war against economic ills” should be started instantly and a task force for economic revival, having representatives from both public and private sector, should be formed. “Pakistan is a resource-rich country and does not need any external financial help. Unfortunately, the previous governments did not pay any heed to tap the resources”, the LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid, Senior Vice President Khawaja Khawar Rashid and Vice President Zeeshan Khalil said in a statement. The LCCI office-bearers said that economic weaknesses of any country give opportunity of criticism to the others and same is being happened in our case. Government Of Pakistan Promotes Two Air Officers As Air Vice Marshal

Islamabad, December 28, 2017 (PPI-OT):The Government of Pakistan has promoted Air Commodore Haseeb Gul and Air Commodore Zulfiqar Ahmad Qureshi to the rank of Air Vice Marshal. Air Vice Marshal Haseeb Gul was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in January, 1988. He is a qualified Flying Instructor. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Transport Squadron, a Flying Wing and an Operational Air Base. In his staff appointments, he has served as Director Air Transport and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel- Airmen) at Air Headquarters. He has also served as Defence Attaché to Italy. He is a graduate of National Defence University and Air Command and Staff College (Jordan). He holds Master’s degrees in War Studies and Defence Management. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military). Air Vice Marshal Zulfiqar Ahmad Qureshi was commissioned in GD (P) Branch of Pakistan Air Force in June, 1988. He is a qualified Flying Instructor. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Flying Training Squadron and a Flying Wing.
